A driver collided with a light train last night (Tuesday) at the Balfour-Rothschild junction in Bat Yam - he was taken to the hospital in a minor condition, and the junction was blocked for an hour until the technical treatment of the train was completed.

The driver, about 40 years old, apparently burst into the intersection on a red light while the train crossed him on a green light.

He was referred for medical treatment at the Wolfson Hospital in Holon;

The train was slightly damaged and repaired.

The police started investigating the incident.

The director general of the NTA, Haim Glick, asked the public to observe the traffic laws and in particular around the light rail, which is increasing the frequency of travel in preparation for its operation.

He noted that dozens of trains move between Bat Yam and Petah Tikva every hour.
