The landlords of the Moosburg Gasthaus Drei Tannen are now also taking over the Hotel Drei Rosen.

In the future, the companies will complement each other in many respects.

Moosburg

– When you hear about a 30-year-old getting his second hotel, thoughts inevitably go in the direction of “Monopoly”.

However, we are by no means talking about the board game classic, but about Lukas Kammermeier: The young restaurateur, who helped the Moosburg inn Drei Tannen with beer garden and hotel to new splendor, is now also the tenant of the neighboring business hotel Drei Rosen.

It was only in 2018 that Kammermeier took over the traditional Drei Tannen - also known to many under the name Freudenstein.

Thoroughly refurbished and modernized, things have been running “excellently” ever since, as Kammermeier himself says, emphasizing: “Mainly thanks to our well-established team.” In addition to his wife Claudia (31) and the employees, this also includes other family members.

Together they have managed with great zeal to master even the low points of the lockdowns and the recent price increases due to inflation.

Now the restaurateurs are daring to take the next big step: "When I was offered the lease for the Drei Rosen, I immediately agreed," says the 30-year-old.

One time chance

He found out about the exit of the previous operators by accident: a former employee of the Drei Rosen approached Kammermeier at the Drei Tannen when she was looking for a job.

"Then I went over and talked to the hotel management.

I knew that the opportunity would not arise again any time soon.” The takeover was completed within just two weeks – including taking over the employee who had called in the restaurant.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

This means that the Kammermeiers will no longer only be responsible for the twelve guest rooms in the Drei Tannen, but also for a further 25 in the Drei Rosen.

It is currently being ensured that both companies are on a common standard.

"And we're bringing everything into shape at the Drei Rosen," says Lukas Kammermeier.

He currently commutes the 200 meters back and forth between the two houses several times a day.

Finally big groups

The proximity also results in some synergy effects, he is convinced: in the future, thanks to the elevator and the corresponding facilities, it will also be possible to offer completely barrier-free accommodation in the Hotel Drei Rosen.

“We also noticed at the Drei Tannen that we are sometimes too small for larger groups or wedding parties.

Now we have a conference room for 50 people in the Drei Rosen, which we can also cater for from the Drei Tannen.” The hotel itself only has a breakfast menu.

"It's also just nice when you can deploy employees in both places when there's just a little bit of free time." They now want to hire more helping hands in addition to the existing staff.

In addition to the kitchen, where an apprentice cook is also to be trained, the company would like to hire cleaning and breakfast workers in the room service area.

Or as Kammermeier puts it: "Someone who wants to give the guests a nice start to the day."

The room category is already on the same level: "We could have both houses categorized as "3 stars plus"," says the hotelier.

"But we didn't do that because it means enormous costs that we don't want to pass on to our guests."

Well utilized

The new tenant has no doubts about the future occupancy of the Hotel Drei Rosen, which was also built in 2013: "There are a few large companies in the area, the train station can be reached very quickly by train to Munich and Landshut and we are also on the Isar Amper cycle path.”

Even if the restaurateur emphasizes that "we don't want to and don't have to change much at the beginning, because the atmosphere in the hotel is just right", the offer at the Drei Rosen will be "continuously improved and expanded" in the long term.

That he, who only discovered his passion for gastronomy as a part-time job while studying horticulture, would one day run a hotel twice?

"I certainly wouldn't have thought of that," says Lukas Kammermeier and laughs.

“And it would never work as a lone fighter either.

So I am grateful that my wife, family and team always support me.”
