Benediktbeuern – A security service should now ensure order in the Benediktbeurer Alpenwarmbad.

Family clans have been up to mischief there lately.

When it comes to Alpenwarmbad, there is no peace in the Benediktbeur town hall.

First there was concern about the staffing situation, then the new entrance fees caused discussions - and now the administration was confronted with a completely unexpected problem: family clans who behaved badly in the outdoor pool.

What was previously only reported from big cities is now also causing a stir in the tranquil monastery village.

In order to protect employees and bathers, the community is now commissioning a security service.

In the citizens' meeting, the municipal outdoor pool was also on the agenda of the town hall boss Anton Ortlieb (BBV).

Operations are running normally again after the corona restrictions of the past two years, explained the head of the town hall.

Potential savings in heating are currently being examined, in particular through in-house power generation.

In addition, the installation of a photovoltaic system is being examined as part of the roof renovation of the adjacent Schützenheim.

No tariff for short visit

With regard to the application for a special short swimmer tariff, Ortlieb referred to the high costs (75,000 euros) that would be incurred by a technically appropriately equipped pay machine including a chip reader and post-payment function.

The mayor again recommended that all early swimmers purchase an annual ticket, which reduces the daily entrance fee to just a few euros if you visit regularly.

Then Ortlieb came up with a completely different problem.

"For two to three weeks we have been receiving visits from family clans," he reported.

They brought half of the household items with them, including alcohol in glass bottles, which they also took into the water basin.

"The men squat, the women chat, nobody looks at the children," said Ortlieb.

One of the children with water wings was discovered on the Lainbach Bridge and brought back to the pool.

Apparently, the guests from the Near and Middle East are of the opinion that paying the entrance fee means that the lifeguards are responsible for supervising their children.

Ortlieb reported about "ugly scenes", for example lifeguards were threatened ("I'll wait outside for you after the baths close") and their instructions were not followed.

"I couldn't imagine it, but we need a security service," the mayor concluded.

Take care of employees

In the most recent municipal council meeting, Hans-Otto Pielmeier (CSU) was concerned about the clan phenomenon.

"Lifeguards are a rare commodity," emphasized Pielmeier, so you have to take good care of the employees so that they don't look for another job.

Ortlieb assured that he would take care of it and react immediately.

The test run with the security service was positively received by the bathers, but there were no clans on Sunday.

The security employee doesn't just stand around with his arms crossed, but rather helps with the operation of the pay machine, Ortlieb reported.

Security at peak times

The municipality wants to use a security service at peak times in the future.

Managing Director Michael Herrmann emphasized that the company was by no means over-anxious, after all there had been several threatening gestures.

The police were called once and only they were allowed to take personal details.

Then you can impose a house ban.

The family clans probably already have one elsewhere, which is why they are now appearing in the Alpenwarmbad.

"We resist the beginnings, then it will be settled," said village chief Ortlieb confidently.
