Update from Monday, August 1, 3:15 p.m .:
The police arrested a suspect in the case of the dead Ayleen from Gottenheim.
It is a 29-year-old from near Wetzlar, as the police and public prosecutor announced on Monday (August 1) at a press conference in Freiburg.
The man is now in custody in Breisgau.
He is suspected of confiscating minors, sexual assault and murder with intent to cover up.
The suspect was known to the police.
In 2007, at the age of 14, he was convicted by the district court in Wetzlar of attempted sexual abuse, dangerous bodily harm and attempted rape.
He is said to have attacked an 11-year-old from behind.
The man was in a psychiatric hospital until 2017, after which he was released.
He was under supervisory supervision in a program for recidivist sex offenders until January 2022, before it ended regularly.
The 29-year-old was arrested on Friday (July 29) in Köppern, a district of Friedrichsdorf.
He had previously stayed in Frankfurt.
He is said to have initially denied the crime to the police, but he is now silent on the allegations.
The investigators assume that he brought the 14-year-old in his car from Baden-Württemberg to Hesse on July 21, a Thursday.
The body of the teenager, who was still being searched for at the time, was found there on Friday (July 29) in Teufelsee near Echzell in Wetterau.

The 29-year-old is said to have known Ayleen from the Internet and kept in touch with her via social networks and the game "Fortnite".
It is not yet clear how, where and when the youth died.
An autopsy, which lasted several hours, was initially without results due to the condition of the body, which may have been floating in the lake for days.
However, further investigations into the circumstances of the girl's death are ongoing.
In the 29-year-old's apartment near Wetzlar, the police found several of Ayleen's personal items.
For tactical reasons, the investigators initially did not want to provide any further information about the finds.
They also evaluate extensive digital traces and mobile phone data.
According to their own information, they also tracked down the suspect on Thursday evening (July 28).

According to police, there is evidence that Ayleen was alive when she disappeared.
When asked, the investigators could not name the time or place of the crime, but one suspicion focuses on the night from July 21 to 22, when the 29-year-old is said to have stayed longer at Teufelsee in Wetterau.
There is also a suspicion of a sexual offense.

"According to everything we currently know, we had no chance of finding Ayleen alive and in time," said Freiburg police chief Franz Semling, who thanked the investigating colleagues for the good cooperation and the population for their great sympathy.
The case was "really bitter for everyone who gave everything" and now "has to be processed first".

Almost 300 kilometers from home, the police find the body of a 14-year-old in a lake.
She had previously been missing since July 21.

"We ask for your understanding that we cannot provide any information beyond the previous press release," said a police spokesman on Sunday (July 31) in Freiburg.

All of Gottenheim is in shock," said Mayor Christian Riesterer to the dpa.

The 14-year-old was found on a lake in a nature reserve in the Wetterau north of Frankfurt.
According to the dpa, it should be the Teufelsee.

In the evening, the police in Freiburg confirmed that it was the 14-year-old.
That was the result of a forensic examination, it said.
The girl had been missing since July 21, and the police had been searching for her at full speed.
The investigative authorities want to comment on further details of the case on Monday (August 1).

Gottenheim/Freiburg – After finding a female body in the Wetteraukreis in Hesse, the police are examining a possible connection to a missing 14-year-old girl from Gottenheim (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district).
A forensic examination of the body found on Friday should clarify the identity and cause of death of the person found, said a police spokesman in Freiburg on Saturday.
No further information was given.
Since July 21, the police have been looking for the 14-year-old with high pressure.
The teenager left her parents' house in Gottenheim around 6 p.m. and has been missing ever since.
The police had also tried with dogs and supported by a police helicopter to find the girl.
A group of investigators was specially put together to deal with the case.
