In the same context, the Chinese Ministry of Defense announced the launch of military exercises, starting from Thursday until next Sunday, in six marine areas surrounding the island of Taiwan, in response to Pelosi's visit.
The local newspaper, Global Times, reported that the Chinese army will conduct military exercises in six regions around Taiwan from August 4-7, including live-fire exercises.
The Chinese defense indicated that the Chinese army is in a state of combat readiness and will carry out a number of specific military operations to counter Pelosi's visit.
Over the past few days, China has warned of the "terrible consequences" of Pelosi's visit to Taiwan on Sino-US relations, stressing that the US side will bear the responsibility and pay the price if China's sovereign security interests are affected.
