In Munich, a tragic accident almost happened at the Candidplatz underground station.

A woman fell onto the track, the driver of an incoming train was able to brake in time.

Munich – A 34-year-old subway driver prevented worse: After a woman fell onto the track at Munich's Candidplatz subway station, he was just able to brake his incoming subway so that a collision could be avoided.

According to the police, the incident happened on Monday, August 1, around 1 p.m.

Accordingly, the 35-year-old woman came too close to the edge of the platform due to carelessness and fell onto the track.

At the same time, the 34-year-old driver was driving the U1 line from Kolumbusplatz to the Candidplatz underground station.

It goes on to say: The subway driver noticed the woman lying in the track bed and immediately initiated emergency braking.

Due to the quick reaction, the incoming train could be braked before the woman lying on the track.

The 35-year-old was seriously injured when she fell into the track bed and had to be taken to a hospital by the rescue service for inpatient medical treatment.

The subway driver and subway passengers were not injured.

As part of the accident recording, the track had to be closed for more than two hours, which is why underground traffic was impaired.

The Munich traffic police took over the further investigations.
