The facts took place at the family home in an inflatable swimming pool filled with only 23 centimeters of water.
The child's mother was nearby at the time of the tragedy.
The boy was in cardio-respiratory arrest when the firefighters arrived.
Transported in absolute urgency to the CHU Purpan in Toulouse, he did not survive.
Investigations are still in progress but the accidental track is privileged.
