The hall is currently empty, but that should change by winter.
Road salt will then be stored in one wing, while the other will serve as a storage shed.
This information was provided by the press office of the southern Bavarian branch of Autobahn GmbH des Bundes at the request of our newspaper.
According to their own statements, those responsible want to increase the efficiency of the winter service with the new building.
Because the special strip of clearing and gritting vehicles for the Irschenberg can be filled on the spot in the future, empty trips to the previous base at the Holzkirchen motorway maintenance department would be eliminated.
Permission was not necessary
Approval from the district office for the new building was not required, explains Autobahn GmbH when asked.
You can approve your own company buildings by virtue of the legal competence.
The municipality of Irschenberg was informed about the project.
Because of the sensitive and topographically exposed location, however, great importance was attached to the "façade design and the architectural integration".
For the first time ever on the autobahn, the halls were erected with oak dowels and thus without steel fasteners.

The future was also taken into account in the placement: the construction was coordinated with the plans for the eight-lane expansion of the A8.
