A young woman is going through a dark time in her life.

Ironically, rooster Kay Uwe gives her new courage to face life.

Now he has a special honor.

Since the corona crisis, more and more Germans have made themselves comfortable in their own four walls.

Some of them even move to the countryside and devote themselves to gardening.

Keeping chickens in the local green is also booming.

But while self-supporters are particularly keen on the eggs of the hens, the demand for roosters is rather low.

After all, you don't usually need them for this, and they make a lot of noise with their crowing.

With the result that noise can threaten the neighbors.

But that doesn't stop Anika Köppe from letting her boyfriend move into her Magdeburg prefabricated housing estate.

Gockel Kay Uwe has been accompanying the young woman for two years and has helped her through the most difficult time of her life.

Thanks to him, the woman from Magdeburg, who suffered two strokes in 2020, has regained her courage to face life.

After the blows of fate, the former commercial clerk fell into a deep hole, but the rooster was her ray of hope in the end.

Suddenly I saw classified ads on eBay that someone wanted to give away a dwarf cockerel.

Otherwise it should end up in the cooking pot,” Anika recalls.

"I immediately fell in love with the chicken," Köppe recalls to the

Bild newspaper.

Just a day later she is said to have received the five-week-old rooster in a box in front of a supermarket.

Since then, Kay Uwe has accompanied the young woman on her daily walks through the prefabricated housing estate and never leaves her side.

"Kay Uwe is a real lap chicken, he likes to be carried." When the unusual pet does stroll along the sidewalk himself, Kay Uwe goes on a leash and wears a harness with reflectors so that he doesn't get run over by cars.

"Whether to the ice cream parlour, to the park or to go shopping, I take my darling with me everywhere.

He's even shitted on the checkout tape before," laughs Köppe.

Kay Uwe is even allowed to go to the restaurant with a chic bow tie or tie around his neck.

He will soon be able to do that again, because his owner is planning to tie the knot with her fiancé Heiko.

Of course, the proud rooster is also part of the party and is supposed to bring the rings in tails, befitting his status.
