Hallbergmoos is embarking on a broad offensive against the shortage of skilled workers in day-care centers: a number of measures have been adopted in order to attract kindergarten staff.

Hallbergmoos –

Because there is a lack of skilled workers, positions cannot be filled.

According to statistics (as of July 2022), ten places are still available in the local kindergartens, all of which are run by independent providers, but nine cannot be allocated due to a lack of staff.

The situation is even more precarious in the local crèches: there are theoretically 58 free places.

Because educators are missing, 51 remain unoccupied.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

The municipality already grants educational staff a labor market allowance of around ten percent of the respective salary level.

The collective agreement runs until the end of 2025. Increasing it to 15 percent is not expedient.

This result is reached after consultation with the carriers.

Such a measure would not have a long-term effect, "because in the case of nationally active providers, there is only a shift in the specialist staff".

The use of assistants is considered to be a more effective measure.

The idea is to give them non-educational or non-caregiving tasks - such as serving food, when children are picked up or on excursions.

Pediatric nurses and music/speech therapists are also seen as suitable.

Institutions may offer more than one apprenticeship position

The municipal council voted unanimously in favor of the sponsor's proposal to schedule one part-time worker for each two groups.

It was also decided that institutions may offer more than one training position.

From the point of view of the specialist department in the town hall, this is the second most important measure because it promotes recruitment.

Specialists have to finance their educator studies or child care training themselves.

In order to make things easier here, the OptiPrax training program has been in existence since 2016: the provider concludes a training contract and pays the students a fee.

At the AWO, for example, it is between 20,000 and 22,700 euros per year.

The costs are compensated as a voluntary service in the deficit compensation between the provider and the municipality.

Other measures: taking over the 9-euro ticket (August) and increasing the travel allowance to 50 euros (previously 44).

The minimum distance has been reduced to 20 kilometers (previously 30).

Chamberlain calculates additional costs of 600,000 euros

This year, the chamberlain expects additional costs of 600,000 euros.

The costs of the following years will be included in the operating cost accounts of the providers and the supplementary municipal budget.
