The Directorate of Health Affairs in the Damascus Governorate organized 838 seizures last July and closed 32 shops and restaurants for violating health conditions and issued 10 warnings to shop owners that need to complete health deficiencies.
And the director of health affairs in the governorate, Dr. Qahtan Ibrahim, indicated that the closures included sweets shops, bakeries, cheese and dairy shops, and restaurants.
Ibrahim explained that the organized seizures were distributed between expired items, non-compliance with general hygiene and health conditions, combining two types of meat and displaying food items outside the stores.
Ibrahim stressed the intensification of health control patrols and their daily presence in all markets and places of sale of foodstuffs, and tightening procedures against violators of restaurant and shop owners in order to preserve public health and safety.
