The blue-grey MVG rental bikes are a minus business and should become more attractive.

And like this.

District – Far too often they stand unused at the stations and are not well received: The blue-grey MVG rental bikes are a minus business and should become more attractive.

3.57 million euros have been invested in the construction of 178 stations in recent years.

In 2021 there were only 37,988 loans in the district, which is less than one percent in relation to the number of inhabitants and “ridiculously little”, said FDP district councilor Manfred Riederle at the district council meeting.

The corona pandemic has caused a decline in use across the district.

Although the rental bike has not yet hit the ground running, the district is sticking to it: "We don't want to do without any form of mobility in our region," said CSU district councilor Maximilian Böltl, Mayor of Kirchheim.

He demands that the reason for the deficits be clarified and presented five suggestions for improvement that increase profitability and acceptance and are to be negotiated with the MVG and implemented with the involvement of the municipalities.

"We would rather offer many small than a few large stations.".

More public relations and a better application are needed.

The district should also have a say in pricing.

The use of bicycles should be better integrated into the fare ticket.

The MVV app could also be improved, said Böltl.

The district council also decided that it would continue to pay half of the annual loss for an indefinite period, but would add a maximum of 1.05 million euros to the operating costs.

The three district councilors of the AfD and Ottobrunn's mayor Thomas Loderer (CSU), who considered the rental bike system to be uneconomical from the start and assessed its benefits for the traffic turnaround as low, voted against it.

The free float areas are to be introduced for 36 months.

Mayors expressed this wish in many places: In such zones, the bikes would not have to be parked at the fixed stations.
