The Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, announced that he provided the officials of the international organization with documented information about the use of internationally banned (Lipstock) mines by Ukrainian forces.
Today, the Russia Today website quoted Polyansky as saying: “We sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the President of the UN Security Council and Permanent Representative of China, Zhang Jun, containing additional information about Ukraine’s bombardment of civilian facilities in Donbass with the Lipstock mines, and the letter was attached with evidence to prove that.”
Polyansky added: “After we raised this issue on the 29th of last July, many colleagues at the United Nations asked us to provide them with details and now they have additional information to assess what is happening,” noting that the aforementioned letter will be distributed as an official document in the UN Security Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations. United.
Ukraine had ratified in 2005 the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines, and therefore the Kyiv authorities are violating its international obligations by using these mines.
It is known that the (Lipstock) anti-personnel mines are used to injure the legs and explode when a person steps on them and are planted on the dirt ground by remote deployment. It is a replica of the American mine (BLU43B) and its danger lies in its camouflaged form.
