The Russian Supreme Court today declared the Ukrainian Azov Battalion a terrorist organization based on a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office, banning its activity on Russian territory.
The judge of the Supreme Court said, according to RIA Novosti news agency, that “the Azov battalion has been designated as a terrorist organization and its activities on Russian territory are prohibited.
The court's decision came amid the presence of many Russian jurists and journalists who spoke about the many facts of the crimes of the fighters of that organization, in addition to showing many video interviews with the residents of the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha, whose relatives were killed, kidnapped or tortured by the organization's fighters.
Criminal cases have been brought against a number of Azov fighters in Russia under cases of extremism, mercenarism and the like.
