The energy crisis currently dominates the public news situation.
The district office is also looking with great concern at the development of gas and electricity prices, which is forecast for autumn and winter.
District – However, the head of the district's construction and property management, Florian Steinbach, made it clear in the district council that there was not a particularly large potential for savings.
Of course there are many small projects.
So-called "authority thermostats" have now been installed in many schools.
“You can turn them around, but in the end you only reach a maximum of a centrally specified temperature,” reveals Steinbach.
A sharp reduction in energy consumption is not to be expected, especially in schools.
"In autumn and winter we will certainly have the next corona wave again," he continued.
And regular airing is still the order of the day.
And if the windows are opened for three minutes every 20 minutes, this has the expected impact on heat and gas consumption.
Flow heaters for hot water were taken off the grid in schools
All windows in properties for which the district is responsible have now been checked for leaks.
In addition, the instantaneous water heaters, which still provide hot water in some schools, were taken off the grid.
“Washing your hands works just as well with cold water,” Steinbach continues.
However, he also left no doubt that much stricter measures could be taken if the forecast (price) developments actually materialize: “If prices really quadruple or quintuple, at some point the question arises of what we can and do we want still afford?
He cited the indoor swimming pool in Weilheim as an example.
So far, the plan is to reopen it as usual in September - albeit with lower water temperatures.
"After the corona pandemic, there is a huge mountain of swimming courses to catch up on," Steinbach continued in the district council.
However, if the federal government decides that indoor swimming pools have to be closed because otherwise the economy and households can no longer be supplied with gas, then it will not be possible to avoid it.
"If the question arises, do I want to keep my job or continue to go swimming, the answer should be very clear for the vast majority," Steinbach continued in his speech in the district council.
