Spanish police are investigating after dozens of testimonies and complaints from young women claiming to have received injections at parties, similar to what has already happened in several other European countries, including the United Kingdom and France .

These complaints and reports have been made in recent weeks to the police or on social networks with, in the background, the fear of chemical submissions for the purpose of sexual assault.

For the time being, toxicological analyzes have not detected any trace of toxic product and no violence has been reported.

In Catalonia (north-east), the police have counted 23 cases, most of them in the tourist town of Lloret de Mar, but also in Barcelona, while in the Basque Country, the police have received twelve complaints in the past two weeks.

The accounts are similar: the victims, mostly young women, are in the evening when they feel a sting, usually in the arm or leg, before feeling dizzy or drowsy shortly afterwards, according to a press release. of the Basque police.

But the analyzes carried out so far have not detected any trace of drugs and no sexual assault has been reported,

as occurs after chemical submission attempts.

Similarly, no other crimes or misdemeanors, such as theft, have been reported.

Without any clues for the moment, the police are asking people who think they have suffered such an attack to go to a care center as soon as possible and report the facts.

Similar testimonies began to multiply in 2021 in the United Kingdom, then this year in France, where nearly 800 complaints had been recorded as of June 16.

The phenomenon appeared in Spain in early July, when eight complaints were filed during the famous San Fermin celebrations in Pamplona (north).

While implementing surveillance and support measures, the Spanish authorities and police call for caution so as not to fuel a feeling of psychosis.
