Inflation hits many retirees.

The volunteers in the social clothing shop in Dorfen also notice this and offer their help.

On Saturday, August 6th they are launching a special sale.

They not only want to get rid of the summer goods, but also show that the image of the store has changed.

Dorfen - Small pension, high prices - inflation hits many seniors with full force.

"Elderly people in particular don't whine, even if the budget is already used up on the 20th of the month," is the observation of Sonja Hermannsdorfer, a volunteer at the social clothing store.

The Dorfener Notgroschen eV, sponsor of the second-hand shop on Johannisplatz, has a great need to help in these increasingly expensive times: Quickly and unbureaucratically, for example with a small bridging loan or by buying cheap clothing and household goods.

"Everyone is welcome here," says Ursula Cepelec, chairwoman of the association.

“We carry used but well-kept clothing.

We also have a lot of new goods in our range.” In fact: the shelves are well stocked, fashionable clothing and accessories hang on the stands.

In other sales rooms, shoes, crockery and toys are offered.

Cost: two or three euros.

Those who can afford it pay an extra fee.

The volunteers often give away the items to people on welfare and the needy.

Many refugees from the Ukraine are currently getting their basic equipment here, and the costs will later be offset against the refugee aid.

That might sound like handouts to retirees who were just barely making ends meet before inflation.

Saying I need help is overwhelming.

"We don't ask, we don't want to see proof of entitlement," promises Cepelec.

"Anyone can get into trouble."

In addition, many well-off people in Dorfen now opposed the throwaway society and also bought second-hand.

"The quality is much better than cheap clothes from discounters," adds Hermannsdorfer.

The proceeds from the shop support children's and youth work in Dorfen, but also help pensioners in need.

"The association is the commitment of politically independent, socially committed Dorfen citizens" - that's what the statute says.

The purpose: to provide financial help to villagers in need.

The nest egg is financed by membership fees and donations.

Anyone who is registered in Dorfen can get help, says Cepelec.

"We also grant loans, for example if someone cannot pay the rent." Or currently small financial injections if the money does not last until the end of the month.

The nest egg has also helped seniors who needed a walker.

sale

With a house sale on Saturday, August 6, from 8.30 a.m., the club chairwoman and her team now want to appeal to a broader group of buyers: "We not only want the summer things to come out, we also want to show that the image of the store has changed", says Ursula Cepelec.
