The Department of Justice filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the state of Idaho for almost completely banning abortion, arguing that it has violated federal law, in what constitutes the first litigation initiated by the Biden administration to protect access to this right. reproductive health after the Supreme Court ruling that overturned the Roe v.
Wade in June.
In announcing the lawsuit, Attorney General Merrick Garland claimed that Idaho violates a federal law that requires medical providers to offer emergency services.
