The regional defense headquarters of the Donetsk People's Republic announced today that the forces of the Ukrainian regime bombarded Donetsk with missiles stuffed with prohibited "Lipstock" anti-personnel mines.
"Ukrainian forces scattered the banned Lipstock landmines in the Kirovsky region during a missile attack on Donetsk," TASS news agency quoted the headquarters as saying today, and local residents discovered many mines in four streets of the area.
And it was announced earlier in the Donetsk Republic that the Ukrainian forces had dropped “Lipstock” mines on a number of Donetsk cities using 220 mm cluster missiles, each of which carries 312 mines.
The Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, announced that he had provided the officials of the international organization with documented information about the use of the internationally banned "Lipstock" mines by Ukrainian forces.
It is noteworthy that Ukraine ratified in 2005 the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines, and therefore the Kyiv authorities are violating its international obligations by using these mines.
It is known that the “Lipstock” anti-personnel mines are used to injure the legs and explode when a person steps on them and are planted on the dirt ground by remote deployment, which is a replica of the American BLU43B mine, and its danger lies in its camouflaged form.
