One person was killed and five others were wounded in a shooting northwest of the US capital, Washington.
The Washington Post quoted Washington Police Chief Robert G. Conte as saying at a press conference: The incident occurred last night in the Kingman Park neighborhood near the northeastern edge of Capitol Hill, where a gunman opened fire outside an apartment complex in which a number of people gathered, killing one person. Five others were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Conte pointed out that the motives of the shooter are still unknown and that investigations are underway to determine the causes of the accident.
The United States frequently witnesses violent and shooting incidents that result in deaths and injuries, and each time these incidents revive the raging debate in the country about the use and possession of firearms.
