Zadorov's defense attorney requests: test six more DNA samples | Israel Hayom

The current DNA sample matches 17,000 people • Attorney Yarom Halevi claims: another test will help narrow down the possibilities • The defense hopes: the second sample will match no more than a few thousand people, with Khabani among them

The goal - to exonerate Roman: Roman Zadorov's defense attorney, attorney Yarom Halevi, informed the court that he located six DNA samples, from which a partial match with the mitochondrial DNA of Adir Havni came out. Among the samples - hair that was found at the scene and matched Havni.

The purpose of the test is to strengthen the defense's evidence regarding Ola Kravchenko's guilt, but also to narrow down the possibilities: in the first test that was done, the DNA profile was compared against a database of Dr. Doron Behar, who later testified on behalf of the defense, and a match was found for nine profiles out of approx. The 1,900 existing in the database - adjustment to 17 thousand people and a prevalence of 0.45 percent in adjustment to Havanni itself.

The defense hopes that the second hypothesis will give rise to a much lower incidence, which will correspond to no more than a few thousand, with Khabani among them.

A complicated move

The test will be conducted at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and it is possible that not all DNA samples will allow testing. Halevi tried to locate nine samples that were tested back in 2007, some as part of the murder investigation and some in independent studies, but only six of them were found, and one remained at Tel Aviv University.

It is important to note - none of the tests matched the DNA of the children who were around Tair Rada on the day of the murder, because the police never took any means of identification from them, and it is possible that their hairs remained on her body even before the murder. It should also be noted that two hairs that matched Habani's were found on Radha's lower body.

From the first hypothesis that matched Khabani's DNA, 500 different DNA bases were produced, and now they will be tested against the same nine lineages for which a match was found, in an attempt to produce another 16,500 bases.

The move is very complicated, but it will allow a reduction in the number of people in the Jewish population who can fit the hypothetical profile.
