A volunteer team comprising young people holding an architecture degree in Homs launched a free, participatory project with several educational bodies, consulting engineering offices and supportive companies, entitled “Architecture for Children”, with the participation of 20 boys and girls of varying ages.
The founder and director of the project, Engineer Waseem Al-Hassan, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the project aims to educate children, increase their awareness and awareness, and develop their intellectual creativity through early architectural education. Seas and plants to learn about colors, shapes, and sizes in their true form.”
Al-Hassan pointed out that the Children's Architecture Library has been established and plans are being made to expand it to include engineering books in English, Russian, Persian and Chinese languages, so that children will be more acquainted with world architecture and art.
The director of the Syrian Club for Children and Young People, Ola Al-Khalil, explained that children of varying ages who love to draw have been attracted, and since the launch of the project, each child has presented his different impressions and understanding of architecture, considering that architecture is one of the branches that bear the principles of beauty, where children participating in the project are taught beautiful calligraphy and drawing, which enhances Children's self-confidence and develop their personality.
For her part, volunteer Rasha Jabr said, “Children have a high awareness, and we, as a team, provide them with a lot of scientific information and architectural theory, and we conduct practical sessions and field visits with the aim of consolidating the information for them and educating them on the aesthetic sense around them, as they participate in calligraphy and drawing and look at the models of some buildings in a number of cities “.
The child Youssef Al-Hassan indicated that joining the “Architecture for Children” project contributed to increasing his awareness of many things around him and opened the way for him to learn about some archaeological, historical and service landmarks. The 13-year-old girl, Bana Muhammad, said: “My participation in the project contributed to learning the concept of architecture.” And how to combine technology and engineering and learn about the relationship between the history and geography of each region and the architecture related to it.”
The child, Yahya Hammoud, 12 years old, indicated that his participation in the project gave him new architectural concepts and knowledge that he did not know anything about, which increased his passion for this field, which he loved since childhood.
