LFI deputy Manuel Bompard on Wednesday August 2 demanded an apology from Élisabeth Borne and Éric Dupond-Moretti the day after an incident in the National Assembly around a proposed resolution on Israel.
During the session of questions to the government on Tuesday, the Keeper of the Seals pointed the finger at "
the far right
" but especially "
the far left
" and this recent proposal, signed by around forty elected leftists who condemn the "
apartheid regime
" of Israel against the Palestinians, "
an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by a single racial group
".
The text had recently caused controversy on the left and provoked a series of condemnations from associations.
Dupond Moretti for his part evoked slippages which "
stick to the skin
" of the Nupes.
“
Accusations of anti-Semitism
”
Used by local NGOs and Human Rights Watch (HRW), the term "
apartheid
" was taken up in February by Amnesty International to describe Israel's policy towards the Palestinians, treated as an "
inferior racial group
" according to this organization human rights defender whose remarks were castigated by the Jewish state.
The minister's words on Tuesday provoked outraged reactions from the deputies of the Nupes coalition and their departure from the hemicycle.
Manuel Bompard, who is not a signatory of the resolution, demanded an apology from Ms. Borne and Éric Dupond-Moretti on Wednesday on RFI, "
because we cannot utter against part of the representation national anti-Semitism charges
", that "
without any fact: no person from LFI has ever been suspected, convicted, prosecuted, for anti-Semitic remarks or acts
", he argued.

He also enjoined the Minister of Justice, "
if he considers that there are anti-Semites in the National Assembly
", to "
bring them before the courts
", because anti-Semitism is "
not an opinion but an offence
”.
He also accused the government of “
using this accusation as a kind of paralyzing ray to disqualify this or that political party.
" The Insoumis Aymeric Caron had also asked
for "an apology
" from Élisabeth Borne on Tuesday after she had estimated, by targeting LFI, that being a Republican "
is not the case for everyone on these benches
" of the Assembly.
