The hut of the forest kindergarten should remain standing.

However, the district office in Bad Tölz rejected a corresponding building application.

Official requirements endanger the operation of the forest kindergarten.

The operators have been in an alarm mood for two years.

Now the community should help.

Icking – It doesn't matter whether it's in the city or in the country: forest kindergartens have long been established and are a very popular alternative to conventional childcare facilities.

In the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, however, the kindergartens, in which boys and girls spend the whole year outdoors, have recently been subject to some requirements from the district office.

Some had to take down their welcome board, others had to do without the insect hotel they had built themselves.

In the forest kindergarten in Irschenhausen, too, “there has been an alarm mood for almost two years,” reports Anette Hemme, who founded the facility 22 years ago.

Hemme therefore used the question time before the most recent municipal council meeting to draw attention to the situation of the forest kindergarten together with a mother from the parents' association, Elisabeth von Braunschweig.

Some parents, grandparents and also a child had come with the two of them.

They sat in the audience area.

"We have our backs to the wall," emphasized von Braunschweig.

You just can't get any further in communication with the authorities.

"We'd like to stay here."

As Anette Hemme explained after the meeting, the construction supervision in the district office had apparently already inspected the area in winter 2020, where she and her three-person team meet with the children Monday to Friday from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As a result, it was objected that the kindergarten used too many buildings.

Two small side trailers, in which tools, clothing, carts, gardening things were stored, and a covered cloakroom were to be dismantled.

A building permit has to be applied for for the large trailer into which the children withdraw when the weather is too inhospitable.

"We then," says Hemme, "sticked to it exactly" - and eliminated what had to be eliminated.

At the same time, those involved also submitted the required building application.

But to everyone's surprise, it wasn't approved.

Instead, at the end of April, a “hearing on rejection” fluttered into the forest kindergarten.

Forest kindergarten operators hope for support from the community of Icking

At the meeting, von Braunschweig asked the assembled municipal councils for support.

Kindergarten is now more important than ever.

In times of the pandemic, the facilities that mainly do outdoor programs were the first to be allowed to open again after the lockdowns.

"And in Schäftlarn a kindergarten group has to close due to a lack of staff." Parents from the neighboring community have already asked for a free place.

Elisabeth von Braunschweig and Anette Hemme have already given some thought to what a possible solution could look like – namely by having the municipality draw up a project-related development plan for part of the municipal property on Schäftlarner Weg.

"You can also pick it up again at any time."

The whole thing was not discussed in the committee.

However, Mayor Verena Reithmann (UBI) assured those present: "We will not let the forest kindergarten down." Laura von Beckerath-Weismüller from the Greens confirmed that no deadlines should be missed in the matter.

The committee's favorite solution, which could also be heard, would be for the building application to be approved after all.
