It is an absolute novelty for Altomünster: well-known artists from Berlin, Nuremberg and Munich are on site and introduce themselves.

Altomünster – Between Monday, August 8th and Saturday, August 13th, the first artist symposium will take place in Altomünster.

"These will be exciting days," promises Susanne Allers, symposium officer of the market community.

The implementation is an absolute novelty for Altomünster.

"The place with its historic monastery invites artists to be inspired," explains the marketing specialist.

Three male and one female artist are staying in Altomünster for a week to be inspired and to work here.

The four internationally renowned artists come from Berlin, Nuremberg and Munich.

The Berlin artist Bernd Schwarting has stopped in the market town several times to work here.

There was already a solo exhibition with him in 2020 in the monastery museum.

Ingrid Floss has already had an exhibition in the Neue Galerie in Dachau.

Both are painters.

The Nuremberg artist Clemens Heinl is a sculptor and creates fascinating, life-size wooden sculptures.

The Berlin sculptor Friedemann Grieshaber impresses with his extraordinary concrete sculptures.

Program of the symposium

The program of the symposium: Wednesday, August 10, at 8 p.m. in the vault of the Sparkasse Altomünster: Professor Wilhelm Liebhart, Chairman of the Altomünster Museum and Local History Association, lecture on “Reality – a philosophical-historical approach”.

The topic of the working symposium is “Reality”.

The aim is mutual artistic exchange through discussion, lectures and observation.

Due to the centuries-old monastery life of the Birgitte Order and its eventful history with the inhabitants of the market town, which is still visible to the interested visitor, it is also an inspiring place for art and artists.

The four artists will work in different locations every day.

“A documentary about the artists rounds off the symposium.

The documentation can be purchased during this working week and also later in the Altomünster Museum.

There will also be a number of public events,” says Allers happily.

Information can be obtained from the information office of the market town on telephone 0 82 54/99 97 44 or by e-mail: info-buero@altomuenster.de.
