These are the most dangerous industrial sites on our territory and all are classified as "Seveso", named after this Italian town heavily contaminated in 1976 by a chemical plant.
Since this disaster, which was a real shock, various European directives and laws have made it possible to build a security system and identify the most sensitive places in France.
A long list which now includes 1312 Seveso sites, of which 705 are classified as “high threshold”.
Like the Manuco factory, located on the Eurenco site in Bergerac in the Dordogne, these present a much higher level of risk and are therefore closely monitored.
