How much money does Stadtwerke München generate by continuing to operate Isar 2?

The CSU and Free Voters want to know that.

They also call for any profits to be passed on to consumers.

Munich - Stadtwerke München (SWM) is asked to explain the financial impact of a possible continued operation of the Isar 2 nuclear power plant.

The CSU and Free Voters demand this in an application.

Isar 2: According to experts, stretching operation would bring in up to two billion euros for operator PreussenElektra

As reported, it is currently being checked whether the power plant can continue to run in stretched operation until May 2023.

CDU leader Friedrich Merz and CSU leader Markus Söder got a picture of the pile near Landshut on Wednesday.

The stretching operation would mean that only the existing fuel assemblies would continue to be used.

Experts assume that operator PreussenElektra would achieve a profit of between 1.85 and two billion euros.

Since SWM holds 25 percent of Isar 2, they could generate up to 500 million euros.

Isar 2: CSU and Free Voters want to pass on profits to consumers - "Relief for Munich"

Because of the gas crisis, the energy supplier had raised prices within six months, by 25 percent at the turn of the year and most recently by 36 percent.

At the same time, SWM promised a fund of 20 million euros for low-income households and an energy saving bonus.

CSU and Free Voters not only demand information, they also want any profits to be passed on to consumers.

CSU boss Manuel Pretzl: "Continued operation would not only increase security of supply, but would also have a positive impact on SWM's income.

If the stretching operation is approved, part of the income must be used to relieve the burden on the people of Munich.”
