The first home game of the new Bundesliga season is for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The RMV increases its capacity on Friday (5 August).

Frankfurt – The Bundesliga could hardly start the new season in a more attractive way: On Friday (5 August) Eintracht Frankfurt hosts record champions FC Bayern Munich.

The Deutsche Bank Park stadium, popularly known as the Waldstadion, holds around 51,500 football fans and will soon be expanded by around 11,000 standing places.

Of course, you can expect a full house for the kick-off, which kicks off at 8:30 p.m. – and therefore full buses and trains in and around Frankfurt.

The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) is therefore increasing its capacity for Eintracht Frankfurt's home games.

Additional trains run from Frankfurt Central Station to the stadium on the S-Bahn lines S8 and S9.

The regional trains of the RE70 from Frankfurt to Mannheim also make unscheduled stops there.

As an "insider tip" for SGE fans, the RMV advertises the S7, which departs from the main station hall to the arena and usually offers more free seats than the other S-Bahn trains, as reported by fnp.de.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. FC Bayern Munich: Getting there from central Hesse is more complicated

Eintracht fans who travel from central Hesse to the game against FC Bayern have to make some adjustments due to the expansion work for the S6.

Before and after the game, an additional RB41 train will run between Stadtallendorf and Frankfurt, stopping in Marburg, Gießen, Bad Nauheim and Friedberg.

For the time being, however, the train will run via Hanau and Frankfurt-Süd - but there have recently been problems on the route to central Hesse.

The Eintracht Frankfurt stadium offers space for 51,500 spectators.

According to RMV, after the final whistle, an additional RE50 train will run from the Frankfurt stadium to Fulda.

The RB51 line also brings east Hessian stadium goers from the main station to Fulda at 11:42 p.m.

In this context, it is good to remember: The ticket for the Eintracht game is valid as an RMV combined ticket and can therefore be shown on the bus and train - if the football traveler does not already have one of the popular 9-euro tickets anyway .

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. FC Bayern Munich: More tram lines go to the stadium

Even those who are not taking regional transport in the direction of Deutsche Bank Park have more options than usual for getting around thanks to the Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt (VGF).

Tram line 21 is being reinforced by the special line 20 between Frankfurt main station and the stadium, and special buses on line 80 from the southern station support the regular bus line 61 - passengers can therefore get trams and buses at higher intervals.

  • S-Bahn:

    The lines

S8 and S9 from the basement of Frankfurt Central Station in the direction of "Frankfurt Flughafen/Airport" or "Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof" to the Stadion station.

Line S7 departs from the hall.

  • Tram:

On match days, special trains on tram line 21 (called line 20) run quickly from the main station to the "Stadion" station.

  • Bus:

Bus lines 61 and 80 run from Frankfurt Südbahnhof via the Niederrad district in the direction of the stadium.

Visitors to the Waldstadion can get off at the “Stadionbad” or “Osttribüne” stops.

Frankfurt station district: slum tourism is increasing

If you want to come by bike instead of using public transport, you will find a guarded bicycle parking lot at the stadium in Mörfelder Landstraße 362, which can be found at entrance E1 and costs a maximum of two euros.

Nervous Eintracht supporters can rely on the car.

The fastest way is via the A3 and from the Frankfurt-Süd exit via the B44.

Despite official parking spaces (Gleisdreieck, Waldparkplatz), finding a parking space can quickly become stressful.
