Endoprosthetics center in Ottobeuren successfully recertified

Ottobeuren - Osteoarthritis is a widespread disease.

This refers to the wear and tear of cartilage in the large joints, such as the hips, knees or shoulders.

For many of those affected, after often a long ordeal, the question arises as to whether an artificial joint replacement can bring about improvement.

According to a press release from the Allgäu Clinic Association, artificial joint replacement is the most successful orthopedic operation, especially in the hip and knee joints, with very good prospects for a significant increase in quality of life.

Massalme has been running the clinic for orthopedics and trauma surgery for a year, it has been certified as an endoprosthetics center since 2018, but has been treating since Dr.

Massalme more patients with artificial joint replacements than ever before.

The endoprosthetics center has now been successfully recertified, demonstrating the very high quality of care in the field of endoprosthetics.

One criterion is the determination of main surgeons who have to prove a certain number of operated prostheses per year.

"50 pieces are required here per year," says Dr.

Massalme, he himself operates on an average of 200 to 250 prostheses a year.

"In this way, I offer my patients the experience that is necessary to ultimately achieve very good, reproducible results."

In order to keep the quality of care at this high level and even to be able to expand it, a quick-witted, efficient and well-trained team is necessary.

With the addition of another senior physician, Nils Pohlmann, the medical team at the clinic for orthopedics and trauma surgery is now prepared for the future and can invest in the care of the patients entrusted to them.

Nils Pohlmann worked until recently at a maximum care endoprosthetics center in Bremen.

He brings with him a great deal of experience and supports the team in Ottobeuren in the further expansion of endoprosthetic and trauma surgery care in the region.
