The Prime Minister, Engineer Hussain Arnous, met today with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Damascus, Saeed Muhammad Khan, on the occasion of the end of his duties as his country's ambassador to Syria.

Engineer Arnous stressed the depth of the historical relations and brotherly ties that unite the two friendly countries and peoples, indicating the Syrian government's readiness to work with all capabilities to strengthen these ties and take the necessary steps and measures to push them forward in a manner that achieves the common interests of both sides.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to work to develop cooperation in the cultural and scientific fields, increase scholarships offered by the Pakistani side, increase tourism trips to Syria, and the importance of the participation of Pakistani companies in the reconstruction.

Engineer Arnous noted Pakistan's stances refusing to interfere in the internal affairs of countries and expressed thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Pakistan for standing by the Syrian people in confronting terrorism and the unjust economic siege, praising the efforts made by Ambassador Muhammad Khan to develop cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, the Pakistani ambassador drew attention to the distinguished relations that have brought the two countries together for seventy years, especially at the political and diplomatic levels, stressing the continuation of work to develop and strengthen trade and economic cooperation, especially after the resumption of flights between the two countries, and this contributes to strengthening communication between economic and commercial activities between the two countries.

Ambassador Muhammad Khan expressed his happiness to see what is happening in Syria on the ground in terms of progress, recovery and progress at all levels.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Muhammad Khader.
