Thank you for your commitment!

The municipality of Haar thanked the many volunteers with a summer reception.

She awarded four Golden Badges of Honour.

Haar

– It's been two years since the municipality of Haar invited its volunteers to the reception where golden badges of honor were pinned to their lapels.

So it's high time to say thank you.

And so Mayor Andreas Bukowski quickly merged the New Year's reception and volunteer day into a "summer reception".

In the garden of the Small Theater he received 150 guests.

Yes, times are challenging, as he stressed, according to a press release.

Two years of Corona, then the war in Ukraine, which now threatens our energy supply to an alarming extent.

The stream of refugees would have demanded a lot from Haar, but "we have shown again what we're made of when things get tricky".

The willingness to help was great right from the start – especially in Haar.

The mayor also took the time to greet the individual clubs and institutions by name, an appreciative gesture that those present acknowledged with applause for each individual volunteer.

The commitment is not a matter of course, so Bukowski, and that is why he is committed to “correcting a mistake” that he and the municipal council made last year in the upcoming budget: In view of the tight budget situation in the municipality, the clubs had 20 percent of voluntary donations deleted.

"But it's just as right and important," said Bukowski, "to give good support to those who enliven our place and make it what it is."

Outstanding Commitment

Four of them then received the Golden Badge of Honor for their outstanding service to the community.

This time, the municipal council unanimously decided to honor two of the institutions and associations that are very real and are always there when things burn – and in very different ways.

The Haarer Tisch gives a helping hand when people are not financially able to provide themselves with the essentials and even the grocery shopping cannot be done.

Ilse Heinzlmair and Ruth Stein accepted the award on behalf of the volunteer team.

For more than ten years, the two have been helping out at the Setzerhof with collecting, sorting and handing out the donated food.

And today?

Is this kind of help more necessary than ever.

The commitment that the volunteer fire brigade performs in the community also goes far beyond volunteering - "Here the comrades are also there with passion and without even looking at the clock," says the community.

Two people who have worked for the military on a voluntary basis for decades have now been awarded the Golden Badge of Honour: Dr.

Thomas Theil and Walter Boehm.

"Doc Theil", as he is known, is the longest-serving member and longest-serving respirator wearer of the military.

He also works as a doctor in the clinic, most recently in the Covid ward of the Neuperlach hospital.

Only because of his own illness did he have to step back.

Walter Böhm has been officially in the service of the Haar fire brigade since 1976 – his love belongs to her and he dedicates all his skills to her.

He was not only an active member, but also a platoon leader,
