Fraudsters stole a six-figure fortune from a Starnberger woman.

The perpetrators persuaded her to leave valuables on the side of the road.

The police are looking for witnesses.

Starnberg

– Unknown fraudsters robbed a Starnberg woman (76) of assets of more than 100,000 euros – they pretended to be detectives.

The handover took place in Starnberg, the police are hoping for witnesses.

On Tuesday, according to yesterday's investigation, the woman from Starnberg received several calls during the day.

"The scammers apparently used a 'spoofed' phone number and thus faked a Starnberg area code.

On the phone, the criminals pretended to be officers of the criminal police and thus gained the pensioner's trust," said the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North.

The false police officers had explained to the woman that a gang of burglars had been caught in the neighborhood.

Her address was found on a list, which is why her assets now have to be checked by the alleged police officers - a known practice by criminals.

Coins and jewelry in plastic bags

As a result of the phone calls, the 76-year-old took gold coins and jewelry in the low six-figure value from her safe deposit box and deposited the valuables in two plastic bags (one of which may have an advertising label from "Norma", the other probably grey) in front of her house.

The valuables were picked up there by a previously unknown woman.

According to the police, this took place in the afternoon or early afternoon on Tuesday in the Possenhofener Straße area in Starnberg.

There is only a vague description of the picker: It is said to have been a relatively small woman between 20 and 30 years of age.

Anyone who can provide information about the case is asked to contact the Fürstenfeldbruck criminal investigation department on (0 81 41) 61 20.

Once again, the police warn of such scams and give some tips:

  • Healthy distrust is not impolite.

  • Is the caller putting pressure on you?

It's part of the scam - just hang up.

  • The real police never demand wealth from citizens to conduct investigations.

Never give money or jewelry to strangers.

  • If a caller asks for money or other valuables: "Discuss this with family members or other people close to you," the police advise.

The police are running the “Leg up” campaign against such scams.
