The Hong Kong government announced the "Hong Kong Climate Action Blueprint 2050" earlier, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and green transportation is one of the main policy directions.

Environmental Sense conducted a questionnaire survey on the public's support for green transportation from June to July this year, and successfully collected 503 valid questionnaires. The result found that nearly 95% of the respondents supported the introduction of environmentally friendly public transport in Hong Kong, and only about 40% of the respondents Citizens are willing to pay an extra fare of less than 1 yuan for environmentally friendly transportation.

The environmental awareness survey found that more than 90% of the public supported the introduction of environmentally friendly public transport.

However, the cost of introducing new environmentally friendly public transport is usually relatively high. When asked if they are willing to pay extra fares, nearly 25% of the respondents indicated that they were unwilling to pay extra fares, and nearly 40% of the citizens were only willing to pay less than 10%. Yuan extra fare.

The environmental awareness suggests that the Hong Kong government should refer to foreign policies, make good use of green bond funds for the construction of railways, etc., and provide more concessions to citizens who use mass transportation means.

Nearly 10% of respondents travel by minibus and advocate adding minibus charging devices

The survey also found that the respondents mainly traveled by rail and bus, but about 10% of the passengers were minibuses.

The environmental awareness points out that the current government's main focus on "zero-carbon transportation" policy is to focus on railways and buses, failing to benefit minibuses.

Chen Junyuan, research assistant of environmental haptics, suggested that in the future, the Hong Kong government will consider adding charging points for minibuses, so that the industry can introduce electric minibuses and reduce the carbon emissions of public transport.

In terms of private cars, the survey also found that more than 70% of the surveyed drivers considered switching to electric vehicles, and nearly 90% said that the cost of charging is a factor of their consideration, because it is cheaper than buying fuel, and the government has also introduced preferential policies for changing cars.

However, in the survey, more than half of motorists said that even though the Hong Kong government offers preferential policies, they are unwilling to pay extra for electric vehicles.

In addition, Eco Touch believes that insufficient charging facilities are one of the factors that make drivers reluctant to switch to electric vehicles.

Liu Jiayang, director of the Environmental Sensitivity Research Institute, suggested that the authorities should continue the current "one-for-one" discount and improve the plan. If car owners replace vehicles with a higher license period for electric vehicles, they will receive a greater discount.
