Amazon is increasing the price of a Prime membership.
Hartz 4 beneficiaries and welfare recipients can save money with a subscription.
Kassel – “Fast, free and convenient” – that’s what an Amazon Prime membership with the online mail order company promises.
Members should not only benefit from free shipping, but also from fast delivery of millions of items.
In addition, numerous films and series can be streamed via Prime Video,

However, membership is not that cheap.
Amazon recently announced that it would increase the price of a Prime membership.
This increases the monthly price for the subscription from EUR 7.99 to EUR 8.99.
This means an increase from EUR 69.00 to EUR 89.90 per year.

Not everyone can afford that.
Anyone who receives Hartz 4 does not have to forgo membership.
Recipients can receive a cheaper tariff.
But how does that work?
A discounted Amazon Prime subscription is possible with a so-called social pass.
This is issued voluntarily by some municipalities and is intended to enable people on low incomes to participate in social life.
In this way, certain mobility, cultural and leisure offers can be used at a lower price - also at Amazon.
Anyone who has such a pass or is exempt from the obligation to pay broadcasting fees (GEZ), such as students, benefits from a 50 percent discount on Prime membership.
This means that free shipping, Prime Video, Amazon Music and Prime Gaming can currently be used for EUR 3.99 per month.
From January 17, 2023, the fee will then increase to EUR 4.49 per month.
Hartz 4: Who can apply for a social pass?
The social pass is usually issued for one year and must then be extended with the appropriate conditions.

Amazon Prime membership and Hartz 4: How to get the discount?
And how do those entitled get the lower price?
To do this, customers have to verify themselves on the website of the online giant.
Simply enter the state and city or county in which the passport was issued and upload a photo of the certificate.
Then nothing should stand in the way of membership.
However, Amazon points out that customers must expect a new verification after one year.
Membership can be canceled at any time.
