Luxembourg, the favorite European country for job seekers

According to a study by the job search engine Indeed, it is the most popular country ahead of Switzerland and the United Kingdom.


Intra-European professional mobility is picking up again.

While job seekers' projects have not returned to their pre-Covid crisis level (-10% compared to their 2017-2019 average), they are rebounding sharply after the trough recorded during the pandemic ( - 31% in April 2020), according to a study by the job search engine Indeed.

Luxembourg comes first among the most popular countries, ahead of Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

France only appears in seventh place behind Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands…

The countries ahead of it have low unemployment, are very open and, with the exception of Germany, the predominant working language is English.”

Countries with high income levels and those where companies offer remote work are the most attractive.

Competition is rife in those where the labor market is recovering quickly from the economic crisis caused by the pandemic (Denmark, Luxembourg, United Kingdom), as national candidates prioritize their job searches there.

As for requests from outside Europe, they are 38% higher than in 2019. Highly paid professions (finance, business services) and those where positions are difficult to fill (medicine, construction, IT ) attract twice as many foreign job seekers as the others.

To overcome the shortage of labor that is hitting Europe, 64% of companies are likely to hire foreign workers this year.
