According to Palestinian reports, the organization demands a halt to IDF activities in northern Samaria and the release of the Palestinian administrative detainee who is on a hunger strike in an Israeli prison.

In the shadow of tensions in the south:

Mediation efforts to prevent escalation in the Gaza Strip continue.

The senior Egyptian and Qatari intelligence officials are working to moderate the explosive tension in the region, and to prevent a security deterioration vis-à-vis Israel.

The Palestinian newspaper "Al-Quds" reported that the Islamic Jihad made several demands from the mediators, including a commitment from Israel to stop its "acts of aggression in the West Bank".

The reference is to the wave of arrests, the multiple entries of the Israeli security forces into the Palestinian territories in northern Samaria in particular, and the daily activities of the IDF, during which violent confrontations often develop and even exchanges of fire between the parties.

They also demanded that Jihad allow the family members of the detainee Bassam Saadi, a senior member of the organization, to be updated on his condition.

They also demanded that the organization receive an Israeli commitment "to stop the suffering of the administrative detainee on hunger strike in the Israeli prison, Khalil Awawada."

Another message conveyed in the talks is that the members of the organization will not be able to stand by in the position of "watching from the sidelines in view of the continued killing of Palestinian militants from the ranks of the organization."

Reports of an increase in the number of demands.

Earlier, a member of the political bureau of the Islamic Jihad, Khaled Albatash, told the "Allred" channel that the talks with Cairo continued continuously since Saadi's arrest.

Albatash also stated that his organization cooperates with Egypt's mediation attempts, which aim to bring an end to "Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people".

The words of the member of the Political Bureau were said after for many hours, from the moment of Saadi's arrest, the Jihad leadership in Beirut refused to answer phone calls and cooperate with the mediators.

Alertness in the organization

The general alert announced by the operatives of the military arm of the Jihad will continue into the night, and it is likely that it will not be lifted as long as there is no breakthrough or, alternatively, reaching agreements with the mediators.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Islamic Jihad, Ziad Nakhala, met today with the Iranian Foreign Minister, and emphasized the importance of "the path of resistance in obtaining the rights of the Palestinian people and expelling the occupiers from the land of Palestine."

The UN is also involved in the talks. The UN envoy for the Middle East, Tor Wensland, spoke by phone this evening (Wednesday) with the leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, about the latest developments and the situation on the ground.

The latter said that the threats of the leaders in Israel, especially Defense Minister Gantz, are unacceptable, as reported on Hamas websites.
