The dogs Pax and Penny are neighbors and secretly in love with each other.
The only problem: the garden fence.
But even he cannot separate the lovebirds.
When the married couple Emily and Justin Thomas moved into a new house together with their golden retriever Pax, the four-legged friend was really looking forward to the large garden.
He can run around in it and explore new things.
The neighbors are also okay in his eyes.
Until one day they bring home a puppy themselves - since then people have been particularly lovely.
The reason has a cute name: Penny.

"When Pax and Penny met in the spring, she was only about 3 months old," Emily Thomas told
The Dodo
.
But the two dogs hit it off from day one.
Male Pax even started looking for his favorite wife whenever he was in the garden.
Whenever Emily opened the patio door, Pax would bolt straight out and stare at the neighbors' back door until he finally spotted Penny there.
In contrast to this four-legged friend, who only has eyes for the neighbor's vegetables and plundered cabbage there.

At some point, the neighbors sent them pictures of the two lovebirds secretly watching the two's cute play.
"We got photos where Pax is standing with his paws on the fence." Penny is there too and they both hug each other deeply.
When they also start sharing their toys across the gate, the owners decide to give the four-legged friends a real date.
And the first joint meeting goes extremely well.
The golden retriever immediately runs in and both romp across the meadow side by side at top speed.
You can literally see how excited they are to finally be together.
This golden retriever is just as happy to see his best friend again.

Since that day, the two have been spending a lot of time together.
Hanging out in the garden or cuddling together on the couch.
"They get along really well, and it's really nice to see that," says Emily.
But suddenly the tide turns.
Pax and his people are moving and now live half an hour apart.

Small consolation prize: In their Instagram post “derpderppax”, the family assures that there will be lots of hours of play together in the future.
So the two can definitely see each other again.
And the first meeting together after a few weeks apart was downright heartbreaking, as the adorable video shows.
