Peruvian Prime Minister Anibal Torres tendered his resignation to President Pedro Castillo on Wednesday, citing "
personal reasons
" in a letter posted on his Twitter account.
Anibal Torres, who took office in February, is the fourth head of government to tender his resignation to the radical left-wing president, mired in scandals since taking office just a year ago.

The cases in which the 52-year-old former rural teacher and trade unionist is cited are alleged influence peddling in the purchase of fuel by the public company Petroperu, alleged obstruction of justice in the dismissal of a minister of the Interior, allegations of corruption and aggravated collusion in a public works project, influence peddling in a military promotion file, and plagiarism in his university thesis.
Protected by his presidential immunity until the end of his mandate in 2026, he cannot be indicted and sent to court.
In addition to his legal troubles, Pedro Castillo had to face two attempts at impeachment by Parliament.
He channels 74% unfavorable opinion in a recent poll.
