Moscow, SANA-
Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today that Ukraine describes Russia as the aggressor, but continues to accept money from Moscow for the transportation of gas through its territory.
Russia's TASS news agency quoted Peskov as saying that Ukraine continues to accept funds from Russia to transport Russian gas to Europe on a regular basis. He explained the reasons for the decline in gas supplies to Europe, stressing that "all of this is certainly under a very unlikely pretext."
He added: We continue to pay the Ukrainians for the transfer through the single operating line, regardless of the letter of the "aggressor", but the money is accepted by Ukraine and is paid for.
Peskov described the situation with regard to gas supplies to Europe in general as tense and absurd due to anti-Russian sanctions.
It was reported earlier that, as of August 3, Russia's Gazprom supplied Europe with 41.7 million cubic meters of gas per day via Ukraine through the Sudza gas pumping station, and the Ukrainian side refused the request for delivery through Sukhanovka.
