A new pedestal made of light-colored wood at the Feldafing lido bears witness to the association's commitment to maintaining and promoting the Feldafing lido.

A contribution from the association, which is eagerly awaiting the detailed plans for the renovation of the lido.

Feldafing

– The new pedestal and the rungs of the new parapet in the Feldafing lido are the responsibility of the Association for the Preservation and Promotion of the Feldafing lido.

The pedestal cost a little more than 2,000 euros, and the curved rungs in the new balustrade, which are true to the original, cost almost 9,300 euros, reports Chairwoman Petra Hemmelrath.

She and her colleagues in the club are looking forward to the detailed planning for the renovation of the listed lido.

Mayor Bernhard Sontheim expects the detailed plans from the commissioned architects Sunder-Plassmann to be presented to the municipal council in autumn.

As reported, Sunder-Plassmann is planning a more in-depth expansion.

It is not yet clear how much the municipality will pay for the planned renovation.

The association is quite impressed by the planning that has been made known so far.

Architect Gregor Sunder-Plassmann informed the association separately at its general meeting.

"With the semicircular construction planned by master builder Engelbert Knittl and carried out by the local carpenter Flossmann, which is also repeated several times in the floor plan, our lido is an extraordinary gem that is particularly worthy of protection, also because of its natural character," says Petra Hemmelrath.

"This original planning has been taken up by the Sunder-Plassmann team of architects insofar as the current restaurant building, which was originally only a distribution point for bath towels, is once again the focus."

The lido was opened in 1927.

The tenants in the business that belongs to the lido have repeatedly added something over the past decades - this disorder, also from the point of view of monument protection, is to be eliminated with the renovation and corners in need of renovation improved.

The stairs have already been renewed, and the semi-circular wall, next to which the platform was now built, was also redone by the municipality in 2021.

Since 2017 there has been a support association for the lido.

It emerged from the club that prepared the 900th anniversary of Feldafing in 2016.

The membership fee is modest: "25 euros a year," says Petra Hemmelrath.

"We deliberately stay low so that we can get members." The willingness to donate is still there.

Before Christmas, members and friends are often generous, says Hemmelrath.

"There are members who donate four-digit sums."

This is the only way to financially support the investments that are expensive for the club, such as platforms and rungs.

The purpose of the association is clearly defined: the promotion of monument protection and monument care, in particular the renovation, preservation and care of the listed buildings of the lido.

Hemmelrath and her fellow board members have many other ideas for financial support for projects as part of the restructuring.

About the floor in the changing rooms: "It's completely dilapidated," says the chairwoman.

"The club could help here, at least partially."

In the changing area in question there was once a bar, in front of which the sailing club used the rooms.

Hemmelrath knows a lot about the lido, including that the platform that has now been created was originally a jetty: "100 years ago it was narrow and semi-circular," she knows.

“The lido is a place of longing and rest for many.

For Feldafinger, the lido is the living room at the lake during bathing time," says the chairwoman.

"The intimate family atmosphere and the possibility of a meeting place for the whole family are appreciated." The forthcoming renovation will make the lido fit for the 21st century, also from an aesthetic point of view.
