Primary elections: Arizona and other key states that are debating the future of the Republican Party

Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington decide their candidates between conspiracy theories and the division among Republicans about the attack on Capitol Hill and Trump's responsibility in it. Kansas also votes on abortion rights.


Several states await the results of their primary elections while the rest of the country carefully watches contests that will serve as a

thermometer to measure how much influence former President Donald Trump still has in the Republican Party.

Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington choose the candidates who will face each other in the November elections for the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Three states will elect nominees for governor and other positions such as secretary of state and state legislatures.

Kansas will vote to give the state the power to decide on abortion rights.

Republican voters must decide the fate of three of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on Capitol Hill.

Governorship in Arizona

Missouri

Eric Schmitt wins the Republican nomination for Senate in Missouri, NBC News projects, ending a comeback bid for former state governor Eric Greitens.

Smitt will face whoever wins the Democratic ticket that is split between Navy veteran Lucas Kunce and Trudy Busch Valentine, a nurse and heiress to the Anheuser-Busch brewing fortune.
