Sammour stressed that the intensification of the occupation's incursions and abuse of women and children in Jenin will not break the will of the Palestinian people who adhere to their legitimate rights.
The occupation's targeting of the Palestinian presence in the city does not stop at killing, arresting and demolishing homes. It recently announced a plan to expand a settlement built on the lands of the towns of Ya'bad and Anin, west of the city, with the aim of separating the two towns from each other and from their Palestinian surroundings.
The Director of the Settlement and Wall Resistance Commission, Murad Ishtiwi, explained that the plan announced by the occupation includes the establishment of 107 new settlement units, and that it comes as a continuation of a settlement plan announced in 2019 that resulted in the establishment of 93 settlement units on Ya`bad lands and the seizure of 3,000 dunams to completely separate Jenin from the western side from the lands. The 1948 occupied Palestinian territories and their besieging with the settlement belts and the apartheid wall that devoured large areas of its agricultural lands.
The Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative, Mustafa Barghouti, stressed that the intensification of the occupation’s policy of killing, destruction and settlement in Jenin is a result of its inability to break the will of the steadfastness and resistance of the Palestinian people in the city and its camp, which wrote the epic of immortal steadfastness, pointing out that the silence of the international community encourages the occupation to escalate its crimes, which are a flagrant violation. Al-Barghouti warned of the danger of continuing this silence, because the occupation's attacks do not target Jenin only, but the entire occupied territories to implement colonial annexation plans and eliminate any opportunity to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
