With a large number of paintings by children under the age of twelve, through which they expressed their dreams and ambitions, the Union of Fine Artists held a drawing forum for children under the title (Joy of the Nation in Syrian Children's Paintings) at Al-Riwaq Al-Arabi Gallery in Damascus.
The children's paintings varied in their subject matter between transferring the Syrian heritage in all its forms and reflecting the silent environment, in addition to some cartoon drawings and drawings of people, so that the forum, with its content and paintings, bears the general Syrian character.
The Secretary of the Union of Plastic Artists in Syria, Bassam Ghanem, said during his speech to SANA that the forum was held previously in all Syrian governorates for three days in a row during the past month, where children between the ages of four and twelve years were gathered so that today's forum is an extension of these activities.
Ghanem considered that the gathering of children from different regions and governorates generates a kind of harmony and love among them, indicating that this forum is only the beginning of other activities that will vary between young people, youth and plastic artists.
In turn, Maha Mahfouz, head of the Damascus branch of the Union of Fine Artists, pointed out the importance of the forum as a source of joy and joy for children, as it was held in cooperation with the Damascus Governorate, which in turn provided the necessary facilities and included a hundred children and girls through which they presented their artworks.
She indicated that the aim of the forum was to instill feelings of joy within each participating child, in addition to refining and developing children's artistic talents.
The child, Youmna Al-Bab, spoke about her participation in the forum through paintings that adopted the idea of silent nature, describing it as wonderful, as she considered it an opportunity through which she was able to highlight her talent and encouraged her at the same time to develop it.
As for the child, Wajd Youssef, she explained that her participation in the folk costume paintings is due to the revival of folklore, indicating that the forum had a role in developing her talent and reviving her sense of responsibility.
