Planning Department: not incompatible with the surrounding environment

However, the Planning Department responded by pointing out that the two proposed development proposals for public housing development are to make good use of precious land resources to provide more public housing units in the urban area, and to ensure that the relevant projects are compatible with the waterfront development in Kowloon East (mainly the highest building height). A balance has been achieved in terms of coordination between the overall development density and building height (120 meters above horizontal benchmark).

The Planning Department also pointed out that although the landscape characteristics of this part of the waterfront area will be changed, the proposed development can be regarded as an extension of the residential urban landscape and is not incompatible with the surrounding environment.

The data shows that the major revisions to the "Approved Outline Zoning Plan for Cha Kwo Ling, Yau Tong and Lei Yue Mun" involve two public housing development projects involving 9 public housing blocks, providing 4,500 units and 2,250 units respectively, with an estimated population of about 12,600 and 6,400.
