The residents are angry: the IDF knew about the violent demonstration - and did not stop it before it got out of control | Israel Today

Last week, the Israeli settlements were warned that in the village of Hawein al-Mu'air they intended to hold a more extreme demonstration than usual. But despite the warnings, according to the IDF, they tacitly agreed to its existence. The Brigadier General: "We knew about the existence of the demonstration - but not that it would become violent" • The residents are angry: "an unimaginable scandal"

Heavy anger prevails among the residents of the settlements on the Alon road, after it became clear to them that although the IDF knew of the existence of a particularly violent and extreme demonstration in the village of El Mu'air last Friday, they ignored the warnings of the settlers and in fact tacitly agreed to its existence. At the moment of truth, hundreds of rioters ran towards Alon Road and started bricking Israeli cars, and miraculously there were no casualties in the incident. The IDF, they say, preferred industrial peace and allowing the demonstration, despite the fact that it was clear to them that it was a ticking bomb.

The incident began last Friday, when hundreds of rioters from the village went on a rampage on Alon Road in Binyamin for a long time, throwing stones at Israeli drivers.

The rioters blocked the road with hundreds of rocks and threw stones from point blank range at Israeli vehicles passing by.

The security coordinator of the nearby settlement who was rushed to the scene was also stoned and his car window was smashed, along with the windshields of dozens of Jewish cars driving on the road.

"Israel Hayom" learned that on Saturday night, a day after the riot, residents of the settlement of Kochav HaShahar met with the commander of the Binyamin Brigade, Col. Eliav Elbaz, and demanded answers from him as to how the failure occurred. The residents even accused him that what they called the mass pogrom almost cost lives. And wonder how the mass riot slipped under the intelligence radar of the security establishment, this despite the fact that there were settlers who alerted the IDF that it was an explosive event.

In response, the Brigadier General admitted to the astonishment of the residents that the IDF knew about the planned demonstration.

"I knew about the incident in advance," said the brigadier general, adding that "the demonstration was supposed to be at the exit of the village towards the road, but we didn't know they would throw stones and the incident would turn violent."

One of the residents was resentful and wondered what reason they have to hold a demonstration, since they are the ones who attack and carry out terrorist acts on the roads, in the form of throwing stones and burning fields.

In response, the residents say, the Brigadier General said, "You will be surprised, but the Jewish side also practices violence against the residents of the villages here." In another case, the residents say, the Brigadier General called the village leading the terrorist incidents a "village of poor people."

"This is an unimaginable scandal that cannot be thought of," activists from the headquarters of the struggle established in Kochav HaHashar harshly attacked today.

"The commander of the Binyamin Brigade, who is responsible for the security of the residents in the sector, arrives, and declares out loud that he knew in advance about the mass riot but did nothing to prevent it. How exactly did you think they would not throw stones? After all, this is the same village and the same place where dozens of attacks have occurred in recent months. They were joined by Terrorist operatives are also recognized by the Palestinian Authority who are known as violent people. How was all this hidden from your eyes when you allowed them to reach the road?", he was enraged.

"The statement that 'the Arabs in the village of Al Mu'air are also experiencing terrorism from the Jews' expresses in the most tangible way the contempt on the part of the General Staff and the security system for the safety and security of the residents of the area, and tries in every way to create a false representation of symmetry between the attacker and the attacked."

In the morning (Wednesday), nearly a week after the riots, and after the residents of Kochav Hashar and the surrounding area demonstrated several times, the IDF set up a military post at the entrance to the village, which is adjacent to Alon Road. Palestinians blinding the drivers on the road last week. The Israeli residents say that what has been done is not enough and that the pressure on the village needs to be increased significantly. We demand that the security system immediately launch a comprehensive and determined operation until the eradication of terrorism, which will include offensive actions against the terrorists in the villages of the area - instead of actions of Defense and gathering carried out so far," the residents said.
