The quantities of sugar produced by the General Company for Tal Salhab Sugar in Hama Governorate, since the start of the sugar beet manufacturing operations, have so far exceeded 1150 tons, with a production of 100 tons per day.
The technical director of the company, Engineer Rami Issa, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that 21,500 tons of sugar beet were manufactured out of the total received quantities, which amounted to approximately 36,358 tons, of which more than 35,727 tons were from lands under the supervision of the General Authority for the Management and Development of Al-Ghab and the rest of the lands under Hama cultivation supervision.
Issa pointed out that the manufacturing operations resulted in 400 tons of molasses used in the yeast industry, in addition to selling more than 6,165 tons of bagasse as feed for livestock, indicating that the process of manufacturing beet sugar for sugar passes through several stages, namely washing, cutting, extraction, purification, filtering, fumigation, cooking, sorting and drying. Wet sugar, packing and storage in the company's sugar warehouse.
On the 13th of last month, marketing operations for the sugar beet crop began for the Tal Salhab Sugar Company in Hama countryside, after a 7-year hiatus due to the crisis.
