Trigema boss Wolfgang Grupp believes that the way you dress is a way of showing how much you value other people.
That's why he doesn't think much of jogging pants.
Burladingen - "Whoever wears sweatpants has lost control of his life" - This is undoubtedly the most famous quote from the legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld.
He is not the only one with this opinion: The well-known entrepreneur Wolfgang Grupp, head of the German clothing company Trigema, also values chic clothing.
The company patriarch, also known as the “King of Burladingen”, appears almost exclusively well-dressed in public.
Group on clothing: "This is the appreciation I bring to the other"
In the Wirtschaftswoche
podcast
, the entrepreneur explains more about this: "If I said I was invited somewhere today and my jogging pants do it, then that's an appreciation that I show the other person – namely none," says Grupp.
For him it is an educational issue.
He doesn't dress for himself, but for others.
"That's the appreciation I bring to the other," explains Grupp in the
Wirtschaftswoche
podcast.
That's why it goes without saying that he dresses appropriately in front of his employees - because he appreciates them.
"I'm not saying: For my employees, the oldest thing I have will do - no!", the Trigema boss continues.
This attitude is very important to him.
Trigema boss Grupp: "I appreciate the old values"
No wonder: Grupp is considered a man of the old school - values such as responsibility, respect and decency are very important to him, he repeatedly explains in the media.
The entrepreneur produces exclusively in Germany and, as a registered businessman, is personally liable for Trigema – which is a rarity these days.
The company patriarch, who turned 80 this year, explains: “Cash in when things are going well and leave losses to the taxpayer in difficult times, that certainly shouldn’t be!
Our world is so crazy.
I appreciate the old values, I'm traditional.
I am responsible for everything, I guarantee jobs.”
