Two nannies were arrested on suspicion of acts of violence against toddlers in the village of Tsurit in the Meshav Regional Council.

The two were arrested on Sunday by Karmiel police officers.

The affair began about two weeks ago, when the parents of two-week-old to seven-month-old toddlers contacted the person in charge of education in the settlement, and told her that they were afraid their children had been harmed.

The parents told about various phenomena that indicate a regression in the toddlers' behavior, such as crying and shouting, which had not characterized them before.

The Director of Education requested that they contact the police and the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry of Education inspector who arrived at the daycare watched the footage recorded by the cameras in the kindergarten, and then contacted the police.

Following the investigation that opened, the two were arrested.

These are two nannies from another settlement in Meshgav, one of them has been working at the daycare for three years and the other for the last six months.

Attorney Karin Legatei, who represents the families of the toddlers, said that "it appears that these are serious incidents that included pinching, pushing and shaking the toddlers.

This is truly cruel behavior." According to her, "We welcome the judge's decision to extend the detention of the female suspects and thereby convey the message - that abuse has a heavy price.

Unfortunately, the epidemic of abuse of minors in kindergartens is in every corner of the country.

The clear message that needs to come out of the justice system today is the tightening of the punishment policy in these cases and a significant deterrent against these despicable acts."

Yaniv Nissim, chairman of the local committee in Zurit, said that "the parents have not yet been called to testify and have not watched the footage.

We do not have much information about the details of the investigation and we are under the impression that the police are investigating the case thoroughly and trust the police.

As a settlement, we focus on supporting and accompanying the families.

We, as a community, have the ability to organize and support and help the Ministry of Education and the Regional Council.

We are a strong community and this is reflected even in times like this."

It has been about two weeks that the daycare center has been closed and these days it has returned to operating in a partial format.
