Dispute among neighbors: Municipality resolutely rejects the neighboring municipality's plans for gravel extraction.
Vaterstetten/Zorneding – The rejection is clear.
The community of Vaterstetten defends itself against possible gravel quarrying areas in the neighboring community of Zorneding.
As the head of the building department in Vaterstetten, Brigitte Littke, emphasized in the building committee, Vaterstetten sees a violation of the intermunicipal coordination requirement.
The focus is on changing the land use plan for Zorneding.
In order to control the development, certain areas should be defined.
But the planned three concentration zones would cover a total area of 106 hectares.
According to calculations by the municipality of Zorneding, only an area of around 7.7 hectares will be required to cover the local demand for gravel over the next 15 years.
According to the town hall of Vaterstetten, the definition of concentration zones exceeds the local demand by about thirteen times.
A concentration zone near Wolfesing with an area of around 30 hectares and an extraction volume of around two million cubic meters of gravel and sand borders directly on the community of Vaterstetten.
Traffic and noise reports required
The large municipality fears additional burdens from heavy goods traffic.
The municipality has examples of announced gravel quarrying areas that already cause an additional traffic of 39 trucks per day in a year with a gravel quarrying volume of around 135,000 cubic meters.
According to the town hall, the documents for the change in the land use plan in Zorneding only show one direction of the outflow of truck traffic, but no route.
However, in Vaterstetten it is assumed that there will be an additional burden for the districts of Weißenfeld and Parsdorf.
"Nevertheless, the documents sent by the municipality of Zorneding do not contain any statements regarding the traffic and the noise caused by the traffic," says the building authority in Vaterstetten.
A traffic report is now required with a description of the traffic flows and the expected additional traffic as well as a sound report for the community area of Vaterstetten.
Possible effects on a compensation area west of Wolfesing, which the investor in the Vaterstetten industrial park "Am Lerchenfeld" in Parsdorf has acquired, are also to be clarified.
Size: around 2.3 hectares.
Vaterstetten's demand: reduction of the concentration areas
And another point: Due to the magnitude of the planned quarrying areas, there would in future be a correspondingly high demand for compensation areas in the immediate vicinity of the community of Vaterstetten, which may have to be provided nearby.
As a result, the competition for compensation areas will increase and the price will rise significantly, even if the mining projects are to be staggered over time.
Proposal from Vaterstetten: A reduction in the total concentration areas should be examined, especially since Zorneding's needs would already be covered by a significantly smaller amount of areas and also according to the regional plan there would be no priority and reserved areas for the supply of raw materials in the municipal area.
