Boris Palmer has come up with a special campaign for his mayoral campaign.
Citizens can invite him to barbecue parties to talk to the politician - Palmer even promises beer.
Tübingen - In autumn, the election of the mayor will take place in Tübingen.
The incumbent Mayor Boris Palmer (Greens) is also running for office this year - albeit as an independent candidate and not for his party Bündnis 90/Die Grünen.
The reason for this was a party exclusion procedure against him.
In the meantime, Palmer and the Greens have agreed on a compromise: He has to let his membership in the Greens rest until 2023 for the time being.
However, that does not stop him from going full throttle in the election campaign.
"Grill the OB": Boris Palmer with an unusual election campaign
Boris Palmer had a special idea to promote himself as mayor.
Under the motto "Grill den OB" the politician comes to the barbecue parties of the citizens in Tübingen and wants to get into conversation with them.
An exchange topic could be, for example, the extension of the nuclear power plant runtimes, for which Palmer recently spoke out.
Anyone who actually invites the OB to his party will also receive a crate of beer from him personally, as reported by

.
“Barbecue season is about to start.
I'll deliver beer and good politics to your party in Tübingen with this cargo bike," Palmer himself advertises on his Facebook page and promises: "Boris delivers".
The start of the unusual election campaign is August 8th.
The citizens of the city in Baden-Württemberg can already send their invitations to the mayor by e-mail.
“Cool action”: Netz celebrates Boris Palmer’s vote-catching idea
In the comments under Boris Palmer's post on Facebook there is positive feedback for the new way of catching votes.
“Cool campaign”, “good PR work”, or “funny election campaign” are the reactions of the users.
"'Boris delivers' is the right saying," comments one user.
Even beyond Tübingen, people are celebrating the idea and think it's a shame Palmer can't come to them too.
While there are critics of OB Palmer's actions, others take it with humor.
"Cold beer for the cool party, according to the motto: With Boris you are (be) delivered," jokes a user.
"A job for the time afterwards," says another with a wink.
Meanwhile, another user has an important tip ready: "Beer should definitely be cold, otherwise you won't make friends." It remains to be seen how well the campaign will be accepted.
In any case, re-election is particularly important for Palmer, because, as he recently admitted, he has no plan B.
